Future Optek develops augmented reality glasses used for aiming firearms. The augmented reality glasses, referred to as RedEye, enable:

  • Rapid target acquisition (RTA)
  • Faster response times
  • Aiming from positions that would be impossible using conventional optics/sights (e.g., firing from the hip, behind protective cover).

Foremost, RedEye makes aiming more intuitive, enabling users with minimal experience handling firearms to exhibit performance comparable to a trained professional.

How it works

RedEye facilitates these functions and capabilities by displaying a digital aiming reticle within the AR glasses. The digital reticle, which is superimposed over a user’s natural field-of-view, moves dynamically, in real time, responding to changes in the orientation of its user’s head and firearm to accurately display where the barrel is aiming.

RedEye is comprised of one pair of mixed reality glasses, which appear no different than normal glasses, and a compact sensor which mounts to a firearm’s picatinny or weaver rails.

The sensor can be readily switched between firearms in seconds, while maintaining accuracy cross the weapons, and obviates the need ‘zero-in’ optics.

The dot/reticle displayed within RedEye can have both its diameter, and sensitivity to movement adjusted. This feature is the functional equivalent of MOA adjustments with conventional optics.
